Sauna
"The sauna cabin is made from pine wood and the air is heated using an electric stove. A volcanic rock is heated on the stove. By dripping a mixture of oil and water on the heated stone the effect can be enhanced. Lemongrass, eucalyptus, mint and pine oil distillate are used mostly. These make breathing easier.Typically it is a 3-storey room with 40°C on the lowest level, 60-80°C in the middle, and 80-100°C on top. Average length of stay is 10-15 minutes depending on fitness (and this may be repeated). It is followed by a short cold bath (shower, bath dip). The sauna's physiological effects: increased sweating, skin vessels dilate, the sebaceous glands are cleared, the epidermis wears off, the muscles relax, metabolism is increased, blood pressure drops, the resistance of the body is improved. The dip in cold water after the sauna results in the sudden constriction of blood vessels, the blood pressure rises again, the circulation improves. The sauna can be used even on cardiovascular patients who take drugs - for high blood pressure, coronary artery disease, compensated heart failure. Patients with musculo-skeletal disorders can tolerate the sauna and they may even experience an analgesic effect. The sauna's teratogenic effect is not confirmed. Pregnant women should use the sauna only for shorter periods of time and at lower temperatures. Drug-treated and well-adjusted cardiovascular patients should not suddenly dive into cold water after sauna. "
