Cryotherapy
"Cold has analgesic, anti-inflammatory and muscle spasm-reducing effects. For practical purposes the use of local cryogel-pack is the most widespread. The treatment time is 10-15 minutes. Patients can treat themselves at home and it has an excellent effect when used on the skin. Cryotherapy can be done with nitrogen, and more recently also by blowing cold air cooled to minus 40°C, during which the body part to be treated is blown for 3-5 minutes. There are so called cryochambers as well, in which the patients stay for 1-3 minutes (-100°C).Contraindication: cold allergy, atherosclerosis."
