Salt bath

We sweat more in salt water than in fresh water. When using 6%, adequately hypertonic saline more moisture leaves the skin than enters. After a bath a material of about 15g of salt water is deposited in the skin (partly by penetrating, partly by absortion). Penetration happens through the capillaries. The penetrant material passes through the epidermis and decreases in concentration.Salt bath reduces inflammation with appropriate (or even higher) carbon dioxide concentration.EMG showed that the salt water decreases the muscle tone of paralumbalis more than fresh water does.Balneophototherapy: the patient stays in salt water while (or immediately afterward) we apply appropriate wavelength (around 310 nm) ultraviolet radiation (Tomessa-method). Therapy for psoriasis.Salt water can be anti-inflammatory in case of gynecological diseases as well.
