Sulphur bath

"Sulphur exists in the following forms: sulphide sulphur, hydrogen sulphide, sulphur colloid, and sodium thiosulphate and sodium sulphide. Hydrogen sulphide get inside a cell about 100 times faster than oxygen.Sulphur is heavier than air and will therefore stay near the ground. It oxidizes in the skin, reduces its effect and influences the cellular immune response. Recent data suggest that sulphur acts by blocking the skin's immune cells, the Langerhans cells. Theoretically there is less sulphur in case of osteoarthritis. According to some data sulphur bath can be advantageous for osteoarthritis. It has vasodilating effect, it lowers the sensitivity of cold receptors and stimulates warm receptors. Sulphur bath reduces pain caused by temperature and pressure in rheumatoid arthritis patients. Normal skin shows sulphur as early as after 2 hours.Several reports have proven the beneficial effect of sulphurous water in treating psoriasis. In Hungary water with especially high sulphur content can be found in Harkány and in Mezőkövesd. Sulphur in Lake Hévíz is also above average."
