TENS

TENS (transcutaneous nerve stimulation) is one of the most commonly used analgesic procedures today. The advantage is that not only larger devices are available, but portable battery-powered devices as well, so the patients can perform the treatment at home on their own.The theory behind the traditional, so-called high-frequency TENS treatment (up to about 100 Hz) is the Melzack-Wall gate theory, while the theory behind the lower (2-10Hz burst or acupuncture-like) TENS is mobilization of endorphins, the endogenous morphins created by the body. Although TENS is primarily primarily a pain treatment, it can also be used for muscle therapy (depending on frequency). The treatment time may be very different, we usually use 15 to 40 minutes depending on the diagnosis.Indications: all types of pain.
