Mud treatment
"Several types exist: organic (e.g. algae), inorganic (mineral based), peats (from bogs), mixed peloid (Hévíz mud), medical soil (volcanic products).Physical properties: buoyancy and hydrostatic pressure of the mud is greater than mineral water. Mud has high heat storage capacity and poor heat conductivity, making it suitable to generate heat in the body. In fact, this effect is used during therapy.Minerals present in the mud may be absorbed into the body. Some kinds of mud contain estrogen (a known analgesic).Mud wrap (the body part to be treated is covered with 2-3 cm thick mud): the treatment time is usually 15-20 minutes, usually used at 42°C."
